The idea of today was to start working closely on specific scenes within the tale. We realised we needed to choreograph movement, positions on stage and timing in our delivery of lines. As an ensemble of just three, it is hard to always have a person in the director’s position, but for the ‘Lovers’ Quarrel’ scene Darius filled this role beautifully.
As for our voice workshop, we had created specific voices for the different characters – but they needed refining. For this we needed to take the work to the environment in which it will be performed – the outside. Volume and the direction of projection were the issues here, and to deal with these we needed to make sure of our staging positions and work on the clarity of our pronunciation.
All in all a successful day, if slightly wet.
